Community Facilities Coordination

Background information

The City of Onkaparinga is responsible for a portfolio of community centres, local halls, youth centres, arts and cultural centres, senior citizens clubs, and kindergartens and children’s centres. These facilities are places where people learn, develop skills, build relationships and feel more connected to the communities they live in.

Council has a responsibility to ensure that facilities and services in our city are safe, easily accessible, draw people of all ages and interests and encourage community participation. This is why we regularly review our services and facilities to ensure they are sustainable, meet current and future needs and support our vision of strong, vibrant communities.

To achieve this, we’re working with our communities to understand needs, determine which facilities might require investment and find ways to maximise the use of council-owned and non-council owned facilities.

This included engaging MINT Research earlier this year to conduct a survey on our behalf, enabling us to better understand community sentiment about council owned facilities.

Next Steps

We are currently analysing the feedback provided through our community survey and will share the findings and next steps regarding Community Facilities Coordination on this page as soon as available.
