Douglas Gully Road works

Consultation has concluded

WORK IS COMPLETE

The Douglas Gully road widening has now been completed.

We would like to thank the community for their patience throughout the construction period.

BACKGROUND

The project consists of widening a 1km section of Douglas Gully Rd, between Blewitt Springs and Moritz Road. Widening the road will assist with current safety issues at the 'S' bend and mitigate water flowing over the road during heavy rain events.

At times throughout the project, we will be required to reduce the road to one lane, however we will maintain two-way traffic through traffic management.

We will continue to keep the community informed as work progresses.

  • May Update

The Douglas Gully road widening is progressing well, and is expected to be completed by May/June.

Over the next week or so we will be working on sealing the road and installing guard rails.

Once we’ve completed this, we will start on line marking.

As with all our road work projects, every effort will be taken to keep two way traffic in place and at times one way traffic. Traffic controllers will maintain traffic flows.

  • March/April Update

The Douglas Gully road widening is still progressing well, however is now expected to be completed by May/June.

With a Vintage and the number of businesses in the area, we wanted to ensure continued business as usual without any major disruptions due to the road works.

To do this, we've had to work in sections, rather than closing the road to complete it faster. This has enabled two way traffic for the majority of the works so far.

Whilst this means a longer than anticipated project length, we hope the community have encountered less disruptions with no detours.

We will now be recommencing work on 10 December 2018.

We will still stop work again for the Christmas and New Year period, from 21 December 2018 to 7 January 2019.

Completion of the project is expected in late April 2019.
