Consultation has now closed.

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the draft Community Capacity Strategic Plan (CCSP).

Feedback received will be considered as we finalise the CCSP. All feedback will be captured with an engagement report which we will post to this page once prepared.

The final CCSP is scheduled to be presented to our Strategic Directions Committee on 6 October.

Background

We are committed to supporting our communities to be involved in local matters and work together to make life better. This includes working towards community connectedness, developing skills, and providing opportunities for people to participate in and influence community life.

To us this is ‘community capacity’ and it is important because a strong, vibrant community is one that works together, shares resources, and is optimistic about the future. Our approach to building community capacity is based on social justice and community development principles.

We strive to enable happy, healthy and rewarding lives for all people:

  • providing places and spaces for community connection, activity and skill development
  • valuing local leadership and involvement in decision-making
  • improving social equity and quality of life

The Community Capacity Strategic Plan will complement other areas of councils strategic planning including:

    The Community Capacity Strategic Plan is our strategy for working towards community connectedness, developing skills and providing opportunities for people to participate in and influence community life. The Plan has been informed by what the community have told us alongside research and data analysis. The Plan outlines the important areas that we will focus on over the next four years in alignment with our Community Plan. It also describes the outcomes we want to achieve in relation to community capacity and the key initiatives that will achieve them.
