We are excited to let you know that Strategic Directions Committee adopted our Community Capacity Strategic Plan 2021-24.
We recently took the draft plan out to community consultation. What we heard was 70 per cent of respondents agreed that the plan responded to the needs of the community and 65 per cent of respondents agreed that the plan included what they hoped to see.
Additionally, we received overwhelming support for the proposed key result areas with ‘supporting local activity’ rated most highly.
In responding to feedback received, we made some changes to the plan which adds value to our direction. This includes:
-
Updating some aspects including the timing of the plan, our collaborative approach to addressing low income issues and reference to the Inclusive Communities Action Plan.
-
Increasing our recognition and community involvement in citizenship ceremonies and, focus on programmes, partnerships and initiatives which support food systems and food insecurity.
-
Adding into the plan, new and emerging citizens as a priority population, and consideration of new citizens in our work with CALD families, inclusion of community gardens and programs as an opportunity to improve health and wellbeing and address food security, and the addition of the new SA plan for Ageing Well 2020-25.
We are confident that the Community Capacity Strategic Plan aligns our Community Plan’s vision of Strong, Vibrant Communities.
