Community Capacity Strategic Plan is approved.
See the News Feed below for the latest update.
Background
We are committed to supporting our communities to be involved in local matters and work together to make life better. This includes working towards community connectedness, developing skills, and providing opportunities for people to participate in and influence community life.
To us this is ‘community capacity’ and it is important because a strong, vibrant community is one that works together, shares resources, and is optimistic about the future. Our approach to building community capacity is based on social justice and community development principles.

valuing local leadership and involvement in decision-making
improving social equity and quality of life
The Community Capacity Strategic Plan will complement other areas of councils strategic planning including:
Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-24 (under development)
The Community Capacity Strategic Plan is our strategy for working towards community connectedness, developing skills and providing opportunities for people to participate in and influence community life. The Plan has been informed by what the community have told us alongside research and data analysis. The Plan outlines the important areas that we will focus on over the next four years in alignment with our Community Plan. It also describes the outcomes we want to achieve in relation to community capacity and the key initiatives that will achieve them.
