Draft Tourism Strategic Plan 2019-23

Consultation has now closed regarding our draft Tourism Plan.

Introduction

Tourism has become a vital part of Onkaparinga’s economy, as well as playing an active role in delivering an attractive place to live, to do business and to visit. In 2017 the City of Onkaparinga attracted over 1.2million visitors, generating $210million in visitor spending in local businesses.

Our draft plan has been developed after extensive research, analysis and industry consultation (undertaken by EarthCheck on behalf of council). The draft plan aims to sustainably increase visitor expenditure to a total of $300 million by 2023, achieved by increasing day visitation and expenditure, as well as securing a greater share of overnight visitors to South Australia.

Community members and tourism businesses were invited to participate in our quick poll as well as by taking one of the more comprehensive surveys.

Next Steps

Feedback received as part of the engagement process will be included in a report to Council and the outcome will shared as soon as available.
