Onkaparinga Local Area Plan

Our city continues to grow, so planning for our future is essential.

As we look to the future, having more people living and working within the City of Onkaparinga brings opportunities and challenges.

How we respond to these opportunities and challenges will shape our city.

The City of Onkaparinga has been joined by the State Planning Commission in preparing the draft Onkaparinga Local Area Plan (OLAP) to provide a way forward to respond to our opportunities and challenges as we grow.

The purpose of the OLAP is to provide an outline of where, how and when we plan for different types of urban development to occur over the next 10 + 10 years and what strategic infrastructure and services will be required to enable this development to occur in an orderly and economical way.

In preparing the draft OLAP, we sought feedback from our community leaders on the issues and opportunities that influence the how, when and where our city grows; what services and infrastructure are critical to get right as we grow; and what can we learn from our past growth to inform our future planning.

As a key council strategy, the OLAP is to guide for growth in our city in a manner that respects our unique lifestyle, protects our environment and improves our community wellbeing. The OLAP will help us to be prepared and respond to current and future growth opportunities and challenges in our city into the future.

Note: the OLAP is not a rezoning exercise nor does it propose any change to the boundaries of the McLaren Vale Character Preservation District.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Our strategies need input from across all groups within our community. Now is the time to join the conversation. We are keen to hear what you think.

A scene-setting video presentation introduces the OLAP and is followed by four separate videos on the four themes:

  1. Plan for Growth
  2. Shape Our City
  3. Diverse Housing & Lifestyles
  4. Effective & Efficient Infrastructure.

We invite you to participate in the online discussion forum below. We have created a set of questions for you to respond to and encourage you to read and comment on what others say. We consider this a really important conversation for us all to get involved in. Our team will be actively involved in this discussion forum, so feel free to ask questions too!

If you prefer to provide feedback directly to us, you are welcome to complete the survey and/or send us an email or letter with your feedback on the draft OLAP. Please note that unless marked confidential, all submissions received will be shared in the public report that we prepare about this engagement process (names and contact details will be removed in all public reports).

Once the engagement period closes, we'll collate the feedback, use what we’ve heard to inform how we refine the plan as necessary, and share the outcomes with you.
