The trial was completed on 15 August 2023 and the skate park is open for community use. We are currently assessing the results of the trial.

Background

The Minkarra Skate Park on Manning Road, Aberfoyle Park was closed to the public on Tuesday 15 August while laser treatment on the large skate bowl was trialled.

We have listened to feedback from skate park users and have been communicating with skate park user representatives on how we can improve the surface. Over several months we have tested different treatments without damaging the underlying concrete.

A small initial trial using a low powered laser was successful in improving the surface. We then extended the trial with a high-powered laser to a larger area of the large skate bowl on 15 August 2023.

For safety, the skate park needed to be closed while the works took place.
