Oleander Road - road condition improvements

We're planning to improve the road condition, quality and safety of Oleander Road, Maslin Beach

We recently received extensive feedback from Oleander Road residents and the Maslin Beach Community Association about our plans to upgrade Oleander Road.

Based on the feedback, we have revised the design plans and the features outlined below seek to address the concerns raised while remaining sympathetic to the semi-rural aesthetics of the area.

The proposed reconstruction scope includes:

Reconstruction and resealing of road surface:

- 50m east of Gulf Parade (at current end of kerb) to Old Coach Road.

- Widening the trafficable width of the road surface to 7.2m which includes:

2x sealed traffic lanes with a total width of 5.5m

a 2.2m gravel roadside parking area on the Northern side (note that the unsealed shoulder on the southern side will be retained in its current format)

- Traffic calming through the construction of a 5.5m sealed carriageway as it will create a constrained road environment and thereby reduce operating speeds

Stormwater improvements:

- Create grassed swale on the Northern side of the road in lieu of a kerb

- Install new junction box and outlet approx. 50m east of Gulf Rd

- Upgrade swale drain on southern side of Oleander Road to ensure water does not accumulate in driveways.

Footpath:

- Install a pale paved 1.5m wide footpath on northern side on the property side of the grassed swale

- Provide pram ramps at Seymour Avenue, Vernon Cres, Michell Street, and outside number 15 Oleander Rd

- Provide approximately 100m concrete path on the southern side of Oleander Road to connect the pram ramp to the existing footpath to the beach carpark

- Provide a continuation of the tinted concrete footpath between Seymour Avenue and the existing footpath on Old Coach Road.
