Palmerston Avenue Lookout Upgrade Sellicks Beach

Work has commenced to upgrade the lookout area located on the Esplanade, opposite Palmerston Avenue, Sellicks Beach.

The lookout area forms part of the Sellicks Beach Cliff Top Access project, which involved the installation of a 1.2km path, a vegetation barrier and hazard signage.

As part of our ongoing safety inspections, the lookout fencing has been identified as being too low and is not compliant with the current standards.

We plan to remove the old fencing and construct an elevated platform and railing with new fencing using recycled plastic material.

The platform will incorporate a picnic table and seating into the design. The platform is similar to the lookout platform built on the Esplanade opposite Gulfview Road in 2018 as shown above. See concept design.

The work will include top up of material along the existing paths to address erosion issues and pruning of the existing vegetation to allow a clear view into the lookout from the road.
