Construction commencing soon!

Since Council approved the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre Carpark to proceed to construction in December 2020, we have been working with the Port Noarlunga Business and Tourism Association and local businesses to finalise the Arts Centre Carpark Plan.

The Arts Centre Carpark Plan will extend, seal and line mark the currently unsealed informal car park located off Clarke Street (adjacent to the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre) and provide:

  • 88 formal car parking spaces
  • 4 accessible parking spaces
  • 4 trailer/campervan parking spaces
  • 2 large caravan parking bays
  • lighting upgrade of the entire parking area to current standards
  • safer pedestrian access through the parking area with compliant pram ramps

This will allow for a more orderly arrangement of parking, whilst reducing ongoing maintenance and improving stormwater and dust management.

CONSTRUCTION

Construction will commence after the peak summer period around April 2021 and we anticipate work to be completed by the end of September 2021.

During construction, parking options will be available at a reduced capacity and we will work closely with businesses to help resolve traffic matters quickly.

For more information about the upcoming work, please view the Frequently Asked Questions.

We'll keep this page updated as work progresses and you can view updates via the News Feed below.

Overall, the feedback was positive, there is strong support for the Arts Centre parking extension while the support for the Gawler street parking is more varied. Businesses saw Gawler Street as a good project, while preferring the parking area to be larger and moved south closer the Arts Centre. Residents saw the concept as too big and want the parking area reduced or left as a grassed area for recreation activities.
