Why are you implementing a permanent half road closure?

A road safety audit identified that the intersection of Quarry Road and Victor Harbor Road, Old Noarlunga, has a number of road safety issues.

The implementation of a permanent half road closure will restrict traffic movement to a left-turn only which will significantly reduce the likelihood of crashes, and improve road safety at this dangerous intersection.

Please note that (based on community feedback) the project has been delayed pending further discussions with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) regarding the intersection of Seaview Road and Victor Harbor Road.

When will work start and how long will it take?

Work was originally planned to commence in late February 2019 and take approximately 1-2 months to complete.  However, we have listened to everyone’s comments and decided to delay the half road closure project for Quarry Road.

We understand there are concerns about Council diverting local traffic to the intersection of Seaview Road and Victor Harbor Road.

This intersection is under the care, control and management of the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI). They are currently investigating options to improve the right turn movement out of Seaview Road onto Victor Harbor Road for heavy vehicles. We are advised these improvements are currently unfunded, and no timeframes have been given for implementation.

Delaying the Quarry Road project will allow us to undertake further discussions with DPTI in relation to their future plans for improving the Seaview / Victor Harbor Roads intersection.

If you wish to clarify any details relating to the Seaview Road / Victor Harbor Road intersection, please contact DPTI via https://www.dpti.sa.gov.au/contact_us/compliments_and_complaints

Will there be restrictions on Victor Harbor Road during construction?

Some temporary traffic restrictions are likely to be in place in order to facilitate the half road closure works.

Our construction team will notify local residents and key stakeholders 2 weeks prior to commencement of the project.

However, please note that the project has been delayed pending discussions with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI).

How do I access Victor Harbor Road?

Once the permanent road closure is complete, access to Victor Harbor Road (when heading west throughout this region of McLaren Vale) will now be via the Seaview Road / Victor Harbor Road intersection.

This intersection is under the care, control and management of the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI). DPTI are currently investigating options to improve the right turn movement out of Seaview Road onto Victor Harbor Road for heavy vehicles.

We are advised that these improvements are currently unfunded, and no timeframes have been given for their implementation.
