States Road - road reconstruction

Council is upgrading a 1.1km section of States Road, Morphett Vale between Wheatsheaf and Doctors roads.

As part of the road reconstruction, landscape works will include the establishment of an avenue of trees to provide shade for pedestrians and better visual amenity for residents and drivers. To achieve this, and to facilitate the road upgrade we plan to remove a number of unsuitable trees and undertake pruning of others.

Traffic restrictions will be in place, however every effort will be made to ensure that two lanes of traffic are available at all times to ensure business as per usual.

UPDATE

Construction works are progressing well with the southern section between Doctors Road and Richards Drive (north) nearing completion. Landscaping works on the completed sections are also scheduled to commence late June / early July.

Additional sub-contractors have been brought in to assist council crews with the kerb and footpath works in several sections to help speed up the process. However, due to weather conditions delays have been experienced and the current completion date is scheduled for mid-August 2019.
