Willunga Rose Garden Nature Play Inspired playground

In 2017, the Government of South Australian launched a $40 million Fund My Neighbourhood Program that encouraged local communities and neighbourhoods to nominate and vote for neighbourhood improvement projects.

One of the successful projects is to construct a nature play inspired playground at the Willunga Rose Garden Reserve on Aldinga Road, Willunga. This $150,000 project is specifically aimed at encouraging young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

A community engagement meeting was held on Sunday 16 December 2018.

Next steps

Community feedback was sought in December 2018 and the feedback has helped guide the final concept. Changes made to the design are:

  • Additional ropes included in the rope run challenge which is inclusive of both younger and older children.
  • A slide to be included in the train tunnel accessible from the top.
  • The train tunnel to be hollow so children can access from both sides.
  • A talking circle using logs around the tree inside the pump track.

Construction will be undertaken between mid May and we anticipate it will be completed by the end of July 2019.
