Fleurieu Sounds will not be proceeding
The Fleurieu Sounds proposal for Thomas Street Reserve will not be proceeding.
However, Council staff will work with the proponents to consider other potential locations.
Should a more suitable site be located, community and business engagement will be undertaken.
Background
We recently called for expressions of interest for proposals from interested parties to activate our foreshore and coastal areas for summer 2019-20 and with potential to continue for up to a two (2) year period.
Through the expression of interest process, we received a formal proposal from Adelaide Marquees & Events to host ‘Fleurieu Sounds’ - a ticketed, open-air summer festival, consisting of live music, food trucks and a bar.
WHAT WAS PROPOSED?
The event was proposed to be held in the Thomas Street Reserve, Aldinga Beach (see map of the proposed location).
Fleurieu Sounds proposed to operate between 4pm and midnight on one or all of the following days:
- Saturday 1 February 2020
- Saturday 8 February 2020
- Saturday 15 February 2020
- Saturday 22 February 2020

The community was invited to provide feedback and after consultation closed, it was found that Thomas Street Reserve was not a suitable location.
