Project update May 2024

Construction of the expansion is progressing well with the slab laid, precast concrete wall erected and steelwork fabrication for the roof installed.

The next phase of works will include installation of roof sheets, aluminium windows and plumbing.

It is expected the building will be weather tight by the end of June, with construction still on track to be fully complete by the end of the year.

Background

The Aberfoyle Community Centre is about to undergo a significant transformation, thanks to the generous support of $1.5 million in funding provided through the support of Erin Thompson, Member for Davenport and the State Government of South Australia. This funding will be used to construct an expansion providing new and exciting opportunities for our community.

The expansion will be located at the rear of the building and includes a new flexible room suitable for dance and ‘messy’ activities, a youth pod and an arts studio space. A centralised outdoor area for informal gathering will also be created. These new spaces will be tailored for a wide range of programs, such as arts, crafts, dance, exhibitions, social activities, and youth and family programs.

The existing playground in Bob Such Reserve will remain.

You can view the site plan and floor plan for more detail. You can also view the 3D representations of the new space. More information is available in the FAQs.
