In 2022, in the lead up to the last State Election Nat Cook MP, Member for Hurtle Vale committed $100,000 State Government funding toward installation of accessible play equipment in Wilfred Taylor Reserve at Morphett Vale.
Donations have also been made by some community groups, businesses, and community members toward the project.
On Saturday 24 September 2022, Nat Cook MP’s office held a community drop-in session at the site to seek feedback from community members for what they would like to see in the design. They also worked closely with local individuals and service groups. A design was then created incorporating the feedback received.
The final design includes a 2m wide asphalt path, new trees and informal seating, as well as the following play items:
- diatonic cam chime musical panel
- sensory flowers
- virtuoso shake, rattle and roll
- distorting mirror panel
- 1.8m tic-tac-toe game with timber frame
- stationary cycler accessible
- 1.5m sensory panel ‘matching pairs’ with timber frame
