Beach Volleyball, Port Noarlunga

New volleyball courts coming soon

Thank you to those who gave us feedback about Council's proposal to establish beach volleyball at Port Noarlunga.

Since the community consultation we have been successful in obtaining a marine permit from the Dept for Environment and Water to install the 2 beach volleyball courts at Port Noarlunga.

We plan to start work mid to late September, and have the courts operational in October.

We'll be working with Volleyball SA to activate the courts and install information signage. Please stay tuned for information about the launch of the new courts.

Background

Our proposal was to establish beach volleyball at Port Noarlunga (instead of Christies Beach) where the beach is wider, more protected by the landscape and has more stable sand levels. The new location (north of the Jetty) is also high profile, has good public surveillance and developed linkages to supporting facilities (such as toilets and eateries).

Two new nets including four posts are proposed to be installed during summer (daylight saving) each year for the public, competitions and exhibitions. The nets and posts will be removed, taken away and stored during the winter months. The two courts will occupy approximately 710m2 of land.

For additional information about the proposed facilities please view the project information, and to view our Sport and Active Recreation Strategic Management Plan please click here.
