Project update – June 2025
We’re pleased to share that the fencing and access gate installation along the northern boundary of Christie Creek Donegal Road Reserve is now complete.
This project is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance and protect our region’s valuable natural spaces.
The new fencing and access points are designed to:
- Prevent unauthorised vehicle access, which can damage native vegetation, compact soil, and disturb wildlife habitat
- Support conservation and revegetation efforts by clearly defining the boundary of the protected area
- Provide safe and controlled access for council maintenance crews and registered volunteers such as Trees for Life
- Improve pedestrian access by including a ‘kissing gate’ that allows walkers and hikers to enjoy the space while preventing motorbikes and vehicles from entering
- Enhance safety for the community by discouraging antisocial behaviour and protecting sensitive areas
The works included:
- A 412-metre-long rural-style boundary fence (1200mm high, with timber posts and wire mesh)
- Two rural-style vehicle access gates – one for maintenance vehicles and one for approved volunteers
- A pedestrian-style ‘kissing gate’ near Donegal Road
Thank you to the community for your patience and support while these important works were completed.
