Christies Creek Trail works commencing soon

Works on the Christies Creek Trail are scheduled to commence on 19 February.

The project is currently on track, with construction expected to be completed by early March, subject to weather and any unforeseen circumstances.

During this time, temporary disruptions may occur along sections of the trail. Signage and traffic management will be in place to support the safety of trail users and contractors. Where required, short detours may be implemented.

The contractor has been advised that the trail is to remain open during construction. Dedicated traffic control will be on site to monitor compliance and support safe access. While minor delays may occur at times, the trail will remain open for users.

These works will help improve the condition and usability of the trail for the community.

We thank trail users and nearby residents for their patience while these improvements are delivered.

Background

We’re committed to maintaining, operating, and renewing our paths and trails to ensure they meet the community’s needs. This project has been identified through inspections and a network-wide path condition audit.

This project aims to address the condition of the existing path between the Panalatinga Road underpass and the service station, ensuring it remains safe and accessible for the community. Given its role as a key route connecting nearby shops, schools, and an early learning centre, the renewal will enhance access and improve overall trail connectivity.

Construction is scheduled for 19 February to early March, subject to weather and conditions outside of council control, and include:

  • Renew 100m of the shared use path, following the existing alignment.
  • Replacement of the southern and northern Panalatinga Road footpath kerb ramp with a standard kerb ramp, including tactile indicators.
  • Renewal of the rail fence adjacent to the stormwater culvert.
  • Line marking to match the existing layout.
  • Tree pruning or removal may occur prior to construction if required.

Temporary trail closures are necessary during the works; however, signage will be in place to inform users to use alternative safe crossing locations.
