We are upgrading the lower tennis and netball courts as the next project in the Clarendon Recreation Ground Master Plan. As part of this stage, budget has been allocated for new active recreation equipment and infrastructure to support both organised sport and informal recreation.

A concept plan has been developed which includes:

Oval area:

  • Renewal of the cricket pitch
  • New cricket practice net
  • New futsal goal (3x2m)
  • New Auskick goals

Community Tennis and Netball Courts:

  • New basketball tower

Riverbend Park area:

  • New disc golf baskets

The concept plan was prepared with input from the Clarendon sporting clubs, the Clarendon Community Association and the local primary school.

Background

In 2020, the Clarendon Recreation Ground Master Plan was endorsed, identifying 15 projects to guide future improvements to the recreation ground. Since then, several projects have been completed, as can be seen on the projects 2022 - 2027 plan.

The upgrade of the lower tennis and netball courts is identified in the Master Plan and includes renewal of court surfaces, new sports lighting, shelters, and improved run-off areas to meet current safety and compliance standards.

To achieve this, the courts are proposed to be extended approximately 12 metres north into the oval, as the current layout does not meet required run-off distances. Extension to the south is not feasible due to the Onkaparinga River, site topography, and existing structures.

The project is planned for delivery in the 2026–27 financial year, subject to Council budget approval.

Have your say

This engagement is about the active recreation concept plan only.

We are seeking community feedback on the concept plan to help inform the final design.

Engagement is open until 18 June 2026.

Your feedback will help shape the active recreation part of this project at Clarendon Recreation Ground.

What you can influence

  • the types of active recreation elements included in the space
  • adjustments to the draft concept plan
  • which ideas best meet the needs of the Clarendon community within the project budget

We want to hear what is important to you so we can use this feedback to help finalise the concept design.

  • the overall project budget
  • the construction timeframe
  • the renewal of the lower courts
  • the location of the courts

The lower courts renewal is already part of the Council-endorsed Clarendon Recreation Ground Master Plan and will be delivered with this project.

Community feedback at this stage is focused on the active recreation opportunities included in the surrounding area.
