We’re committed to maintaining, operating, and renewing our roads to ensure they meet the community’s needs, as outlined in the Road Network Plan. Regular maintenance, including our Road Reconstruction Program, is vital to keeping our road network safe and reliable.

We are planning to reconstruct Collins Parade, Hackham to address significant pavement failures. The work is currently scheduled to commence in April and be completed in July, subject to weather and events outside of Council control. This work is required to prevent further deterioration of the pavement layers and ensure the road remains fit for purpose. Additionally, we will be making changes to the traffic calming at the Susan Road intersection to improve traffic management and safety.

The scope of work includes:

• Rebuilding Collins Parade between Penneys Hill Road and Arnold Drive within its current footprint including complete granular road reconstruction.
• New asphalt surface between Arnold Drive and Paramount Avenue.
• Replacement of defective kerbing, footpaths, and driveway inverts.
• Improved pedestrian facilities:
  • Upgrades to multiple pram ramps located at:
    • The intersection of Lynn Place.
    • The service road east of Lynn Place.
    • The intersection of Vintage Avenue.
    • The intersection of Penneys Hill Road.
  • New ramp crossing located south of bus stop 56.
• Renewal and improvement of traffic calming located at the intersection of Susan Road and Collins Parade.
• Upgrade of existing koala crossing adjacent Hackham East School.
• Upgrade of the street lighting within the construction area.
