April Update

We recently completed the upgrade to the Community Wastewater Management Scheme, delivered by external contractors.

Part of this project involved roadworks and resurfacing along a section of Main Road. The road, owned by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI), was recently inspected and found to have structural defects. These defects were caused by the extreme heatwave experienced in early March.

However, if the relevant specifications and appropriate construction methods were used, the road should not have deteriorated under the heatwave conditions. for this reason, the external contractors have been issued with a defect notification.

Plans are being made to have this work completed by a different contractor at no additional expense to Council. However, this will unfortunately mean additional disruptions for local residents while the work is completed.

We are waiting for clarification on the timing of this work and will keep everyone informed via this page.

We sincerely apologise for the further inconvenience this will cause, however the road must meet all required specifications to be certified by DPTI and deliver trouble free use for many years to come.
