You had your say and we listened!

At the council meeting on 15 July 2025, Council considered all community feedback and resolved not to adopt the draft Community Land Management Plan – Community, Social and Affordable Housing and not to proceed with the proposal to grant a long-term lease over a portion of Skoda Street Reserve, Port Willunga for the development of community, social and affordable rental housing.

Engagement outcomes

Extensive community consultation was undertaken from 2 - 26 May 2025, and direct engagement with local residents was our focus for this proposal.

Council staff engaged via door-knocking and an information stand at the Aldinga Shopping Centre in addition to other engagement methods which included on-site signage, letters to residents and emails to registered Your Say members. This was to ensure maximum reach was achieved in capturing the views of the local community most impacted by the proposal.

Feedback was invited through various methods; online, by email or phone, and in person. These engagement outcomes were then presented to Council in a report to inform and guide the decision-making process.

Throughout the engagement period, over 1,000 people visited the Your Say page, and we received a total of 184 contributions:

  • 122 provided feedback through the survey
  • 20 provided feedback via the quick poll
  • 13 people provided feedback via email and letter
  • 29 face-to-face conversations

Feedback resulted in 140 participants not supporting the proposal, 38 supporting the proposal and six participants unsure about the proposal.
