The City of Onkaparinga is looking at ways it can contribute to easing the housing crisis.

We are piloting a process to allow council land to be leased and used for a community, social and affordable rental housing project.

The first step in the process is to ask for community feedback on a draft Community Land Management Plan for the proposed portion of Skoda Street Reserve. The draft Community Land Management Plan outlines how the land could be used for community, social and affordable rental housing.

The next step will be for Council to consider this feedback and decide whether to adopt the draft Community Land Management Plan and support a long-term lease.

If approved, future steps would include the council inviting expressions of interest from registered community housing providers to submit proposals to develop, construct and manage community, social and affordable housing for rent to eligible members of the community.

Providers would need to show how they’d meet strict criteria around creating sustainable, liveable and affordable housing that matches its surroundings.

Please read the Skoda Street Reserve fact sheet and the draft Community Land Management Plan and then provide feedback below.
