Path complete

We are happy to advise that the path renewal works are complete and the path is open for use.

Background

In order to improve the condition of the shared use path, we're renewing a section of the trail as illustrated on the renewal location map.

Construction of the path is complete and it can now be used. The remainder of the works, including installation of signage and bollards and line marking, is now expected to be completed by the end of December.

Our contractor will endeavour to minimise inconvenience during the work, however heavy machinery will be used on site, so this section of path will be closed during construction to ensure pedestrian safety. The path is located in open reserve and users will be able to walk/ride through areas not impacted by the works. We don't envisage the need for detours; however, this will be monitored as works progress.

We will be trialling the use of crumbed rubber asphalt as part of this shared use path renewal. This product provides a smooth and flexible material when compared to other materials such as traditional asphalt or spray seal. It has also been used successfully on some of our road renewal projects. Utilising recycled tyres for the asphalt mix contributes towards council's sustainability targets.

More information about the renewal work and impacts can be found in the FAQs.
