Community engagement outcomes

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback.

We had 268 visitors to the Your Say page and received feedback from 74 community members through the online survey, online quick poll, doorknocking and on site drop in session.

What we heard:
  • 77% of people who provided feedback online indicated they were happy with the proposed design.
  • Most liked features included the court resurfacing, proposed play equipment, learn to ride area as well as the shelters, tables and benches.
  • We also received some suggestions and requests for changes to the design including adding a BBQ.

There were concerns raised around vandalism in the area. Council is aware of incidents in the area, including both graffiti and property damage. Due to this we are continuing to work with SAPOL in regard to the ongoing issues.

Overall, the feedback received during the community engagement demonstrated strong support for the project.

What’s next:

In response to the community feedback, the following possible changes to the concept design will be investigated, subject to budget.

  • The playground is proposed to be enhanced with additional play elements, more toddler equipment, possible new features (with some existing items reviewed), increased tree and native planting, improved buffers to nearby properties, and minor amenity changes such as relocating the drinking fountain and reviewing goals and BBQ options.
  • The courts will be reconfigured to better accommodate multiple sports, with space and run-offs reviewed to optimise layout. Proposed changes include a multi-use northern court, back-to-back basketball in the centre, a dedicated Learn to Ride area in the south, and consideration of additional seating.

The design is now being reviewed, and we’ll share an updated concept plan in early 2026.

The renewal is expected to be undertaken within the 2026-27 financial year, subject to approval through council's annual budget process.
