Latest update
Construction of the reserve is now underway and the work is now estimated to be completed by the end of September.
Once construction is complete, there will still be some fencing up around the irrigated turf area, to allow for the establishment of the hydroseed. We estimate this will remain until late November, depending on the spring weather which will heavily impact how well the turf grows.

Background
The reserve, identified in the Open Space Strategic Management Plan 2018-23 as a District Family reserve has reached the end of its asset life and requires an upgrade. The upgrade aims to enhance the reserve's appearance, provide a high-quality playground suitable for use by the broader community and an irrigated lawn area.
With the support of Amanda Rishworth Member for Kingston, Karingal Reserve gained federal government funding of $500,000 towards the upgrade of the reserve, which is subject to a grant application process.
- New playground equipment: flying fox, rope climbing tower, a variety of ninja equipment, nature play
- Fitness station
- New picnic shelter, table and bench seats
- Solar lights
- New drinking fountains
Additionally, the state government, with the backing of Chris Picton, Member for Kaurna, will contribute $350,000 towards the construction of a new clubroom within the reserve for the Seaford Netball Club.
