Stage 1 – Former Hardy’s Winery site, Old Reynella

On 4 May 2021, the Council also resolved to initiate discussions with Heritage South Australia and the South Australian Heritage Council regarding consideration of local heritage listed places, unlisted structures and landscape items within the extent of State Heritage Listing of Former Hardy’s Winery site, Old Reynella.

Following a conversation with staff at Heritage South Australia, a nomination for state heritage listing of local heritage places and unlisted structures within the Former Hardy’s Winery site was submitted to Heritage South Australia on 26 July 2021.

On 5 April 2022, the South Australian Heritage Council (SAHC) considered Council’s nomination for state heritage listing of the current local heritage listed structures, unlisted structures and some of the trees/plantings on the Former Hardy’s site, Old Reynella.

The SAHC formed an opinion that only the outbuilding/stables near the Reynell Road entrance is of state heritage significance (as outlined in red below).

NB - the structures outlined in yellow are existing state heritage items

The SAHC has provisionally entered the ‘outbuilding’ as a State Heritage Place in the South Australian Heritage Register (SAHR).

The provisional entry of the outbuilding is now subject to pubic consultation for three months and anyone can make a submission in favour or against the state heritage listing. The submission must address the relevant state heritage listing criteria as specified in the Heritage Act 1993.

The SAHC will review the submissions and decide on ‘confirmed’ entry of the outbuilding in SAHR in the coming months.
