Stage 2 and 3

As the project has progressed, Stage 2 is now defined as a review of selected 79 local heritage listed places (LHP) and 8 contributory items (CI). The LHPs and CIs selected for review, are based on the desktop review of all our current LHPs (372) and CIs (30).

Stage 3 is defined as the review of nominations received during community consultation, previous requests and trees listed on the separate National Trust Register.

In total, there are 66 nominations for potential new listings and 7 nominations for amendment or removal of listing. There were six duplicates or repeated requests. Of the 66 nominations, National Trust Coromandel Valley and Districts Branch have put forward 32 places for potential new listing. The nominations for potential new local heritage listing are categorised as follows:

Next Steps are to present the findings and recommendations for Stages 2 and 3 in August-September 2022. The review is being undertaken by Heritage Consultants to ensure independence and strengthen the integrity of the final outcomes.

The findings and recommendations for Stage 2 and Stage 3 will be presented to Council’s Strategic Direction’s Committee on 2 August 2022. You can view the agenda and the attachment reports here.
