This much-loved facility has served the community well over the past 30 years, welcoming up to 270,000 visits annually from across our city. As such, the aquatic centre is ageing and requires some significant work.

The council is currently planning for upgrades to the roof, pool liner, and filtration systems, as well as the addition of solar panels and improved accessible features.

We estimate the upgrades will cost approximately $10.8 million and the council has identified $5.4m funding toward these works in our forward budget.

We are seeking an additional $5.4m funding to enable this important work to proceed, and recently applied for a federal government grant for this funding.

We need to secure additional funding for the project to proceed, which means the timing is currently uncertain. The pool will, however, need to be closed during construction.

We will work with all stakeholders leading up to a pool closure to ensure that everyone is kept informed and able to minimise impacts where possible.

We appreciate any closure of the aquatic centre will have a significant impact on users but know that these important works will mean the centre can continue to serve the community for many years to come.
