McLaren Flat Recreation Ground Incorporated have requested a long-term lease for the continued use of the McLaren Flat Recreation Ground located at 41-47 Main Road, McLaren Flat.

McLaren Flat Recreation Ground is a key community sporting facility, supporting year-round use for a range of sporting and recreation activities. A diverse range of local sports and social clubs are affiliated with the grounds and contribute to the overall operation. The facility has been leased and operated by McLaren Flat Recreation Ground Incorporated for many years.

The proposed lease would include the oval, clubrooms, bowling green area and courts as outlined in the image below. The Soldiers Memorial Hall sits under a separate management agreement and will not be included as part of this lease agreement.

At its February 2025 meeting, Council approved entering into long-term lease agreements for our multi-use sporting facilities, subject to the required Public Consultation process under Section 202 of the Local Government Act 1999. We are seeking to enter into a long-term lease agreement, structured as three (3) consecutive five (5) year terms.

The granting of long-term lease will support the continued use of the land in line with Council’s Community Land Management Plan for Sportsgrounds, District.

We are now seeking feedback on the proposal and invite you to have your say.

If feedback not in support of the lease is received during the engagement a report with all feedback will be presented to Council for a decision to be made.
