Project update July 2024

Project preparations are progressing as planned. We have successfully engaged a contractor who is scheduled to commence work on-site in early August.

The initial phase of construction will involve excavating the footings and pouring the slab, followed by the erection of the blockwork and steel framing.

We anticipate the project to be completed early in 2025.

Background

The Byards Road Wetland will soon have a public toilet, thanks to the support of state government funding.

The toilet will be a single, unisex cubicle, ensuring access to everyone. It will be constructed using durable materials featuring integrated skylights to allow ample natural light and ventilation. For added security, the door will auto-lock at night.

The public toilet will encourage longer visits and enhance the overall enjoyment of the Byards Road Wetland for the entire community. It will also make the wetlands more accessible and inviting for people of all ages and abilities, including participants in events like the weekly Reynella East Park run.
