We’re planning to build a new shared path at Seaford Rise, subject to budget approval. It will connect the Coast to Vines Trail, Pedler Creek Trail and the Seaford Meadows trails. This project fills a missing link in the off road trail network and improves connections for people walking and cycling.

What we’re doing

  • Building a shared use path linking the end of the Seaford Meadows path, the Coast to Vines Trail and the western leg of Grand Boulevard.
  • Constructing a new bridge over the waterway in the reserve.
  • Upgrading a section of the existing trail west of the Coast to Vines Trail from gravel to asphalt.
  • Improving road crossings.
  • Planting about 80 new trees and shrubs between the two legs of Grand Boulevard, with irrigation.
  • Pruning some shrubs (minimal vegetation impact overall).
  • Installing new wayfinding signs and seating.

Why this matters

This new link will make it easier and safer to move between local paths and destinations without using a car.

Trees and greening

All new plants will be Australian natives, with most species indigenous to Adelaide. This supports agreed goals to increase tree canopy cover and urban green cover in public areas by 20 per cent by 2045, contributing to our target of 100,000 new trees in street verges, waterways and parks by 2037.

Timing

  • This multi year path construction project is planned for the 2026–27, 2027–28 financial years, subject to budget approvals.
  • Planting will occur during the autumn–spring planting season after construction

A plan showing the path works and an indicative tree planting layout is provided below.

Proposed revegetation plan

This diagram shows where we plan to add about 80 new native trees and shrubs, creating shade and a greener look along the new path.
