Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. We will review it and get back to you soon.

BACKGROUND

Concerns have been raised regarding with traffic speed on Flaxmill Road, west of Morton Road, Christie Downs.

Currently, Flaxmill Road between Main South Road and Morton Road is 60km/h; and, Flaxmill Road between Morton Road and Dyson Road is 70km/h.

Due to the recent upgrade of Morton Road Reserve, traffic and pedestrian movements have increased in the area. West of Morton Road Reserve on Flaxmill Road, there is a train station and a baseball facility which attract pedestrians as well as pedestrian traffic signals where people cross Flaxmill Road.

To improve road safety, a reduction in speed limit from 70km/h to 60km/h is proposed for the western portion of Flaxmill Road, between Morton Road and Dyson Road. This would make the entire length of Flaxmill Road a consistent 60km/h.

As the setting of speed limits fall under the delegation of Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), we applied to DIT requesting they consider the proposal for a 60km/h speed limit. DIT have responded and given in principle agreement.

We would now like to hear feedback from the community on this proposal to reduce the speed limit to 60km/h.
