Council voted to support the 16 year lease (Initial 6-year licence with two rights of renewals for five years each) to the RAA.
Once the licence negotiations have been finalised, RAA will commence installation of the charging station.

Background

We are proposing to provide the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia Incorporated (RAA) with a 6-year lease, with two 5-year rights of renewal, for three car parking spaces located in Seaford. This lease is intended specifically for the installation of public electric vehicle charging stations.

This proposal involves the installation of two high speed electric vehicle charging stations in the overflow carpark to the North of Seaford Central Shopping Centre. See the Location Map for the exact location within the car park.

The carpark has been identified as a suitable location for the installation of the public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations which will funded by the RAA and the State Government as part of the Electric Vehicles Plan. The RAA will install, operate, and maintain these charging stations.

Once operational, these charging stations will be open to the public. The fee to charge will be determined by the RAA, more information regarding the fee structure can be found here.

In accordance with section 202(2) of the Local Government Act 1999, we are now undertaking the relevant steps of our public consultation policy and seek community feedback on the proposed lease.
