December 2025 update

17 December 2025

The detention basin upgrade at William Eatts Reserve, Sellicks Beach is on track to finish in early January 2026.

Shaping and excavation will be completed this week.

The basin and its gently sloped sides will be sprayed with a mix of water and mulch to help reduce dust and protect the soil over the Christmas break.

Finishing work, including laying jute matting to help stabilise the soil, will restart from 5 January 2026 and are expected to take about a week, weather permitting.

Planting of new vegetation is scheduled to begin in May 2026 to align with the planting season.

Construction workers use excavators to form a shallow drainage channel, placing rock-filled wire cages across it to manage water flow, with safety cones, trees and the ocean visible in the background on a sunny day.
