Have your say before the engagement closes.

The draft Code Amendment proposes to update flood hazard overlay mapping across the state, based on new and updated flood studies and modelling, along with updates to policies in the flood hazard overlays.

The proposed updated flood hazard overlay mapping utilises modelling of flood event scenarios for the year 2050, factoring in projected climate conditions and development growth scenarios to protect new homes from flooding now and in the future.

The proposed changes to the policies of the flood hazard overlays seek to update terminology to provide greater consistency and clarity in the assessment of development and to achieve alignment with national natural hazard mitigation guidance, including guidance from the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience.

This Code Amendment is the final stage of the Flood Hazard Mapping and Assessment Project, which included delivering the Flooding Hazards Mapping Update Code Amendment and procuring new, detailed flood studies to update and enhance flood hazard mapping across the state.
