Project update – June 2025

Following a series of engagement activities last year, we released Version 2 of a standardised Aerated Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) service report template for promotion and road testing. The updated template has been available since August 2024, and we hope you’ve had the opportunity to use or trial it in your work.

We’re now inviting your feedback on this version. Please share your thoughts by completing the short survey below before 30 September 2025.

We’re continuing to explore options for enabling online lodgement of AWTS service reports. As part of this, we’ve engaged Healthy Environs to work with councils and service agents to test possible platform solutions. This work has been supported by $3000 in award funds, received when the project was awarded a Minister for Health and Wellbeing – Excellence in Public Health Award in late 2024.

We’re also collaborating with Healthy Environs on a complementary project supported by the LGA CWMS Program, administered by the Local Government Association of South Australia. This work involves developing a business case analysis for a state-wide platform to manage documentation for maintenance and compliance of pre-treatment devices (e.g. septic tanks and grease arrestors) connected to CWMS. AWTS reporting has been identified as a natural extension to this platform, strengthening alignment and integration across related wastewater systems.

  • What's next

The project team are currently seeking feedback from stakeholders to review the report template after both service agents and council regulators have had the opportunity to road test the template.

We continue to progress to the project and are investigating an option for online lodgment of service reports.
