Thalassa Park Storybook Walk

SEPTEMBER UPDATE

We have now chosen an artist to begin work on the final design development of the 2021-22 Storybook Walk. Sally Wickes has started applying her talent to creating a wonderful sculptural piece about the story, Fancy Pants written by Kelly Hibberd and illustrated by Amanda Graham.

There will be a celebratory event to launch the new work in February 2022, so keep an eye out for this great Family Fun Day.

AND THE WINNER IS................ FANCY PANTS!

On Wednesday 17 February 2021 the voting for the Storybook Walk ended. It was a close competition with both Fancy Pants and Mama Ocean having the lead multiple times.

Thank you to everyone that voted through the “Your Say” website, people that visited our libraries to vote and all the schools that participated. The Your Say page was visited 3800 times during the consultation period resulting in over 1100 people voting online.

Over 200 manual votes were also received during the consultation period.

We are excited to announce that the winner is Fancy Pants by Kelly Hibbert and illustrated by Amanda Graham with a whopping 49% of the vote, closely followed by Mama Ocean by Jane Jolly and illustrated by Sally Heinrich with 39% of the vote and Esmeralda’s Nest by Robert Moore and illustrated by Mandy Foot with 12% of the vote.
