Council approves 'Little Rincon Park' as park name

Following on from the first stage of engagement where we asked the community to suggest names for the park, community were provided with the opportunity to vote on four shortlisted names:

  • Seaford and Districts Lions Park - in recognition of the ongoing contributions of a local service club in the area
  • Little Rincon Park - Little Rincon is the name of the local surf break located adjacent to this park
  • Little Captains Park - reflects the nautical theme of the park with the play equipment including a boat
  • Tiny Treasures Park - reflects the nautical theme of the park and the smaller children who will use the park.

Throughout the voting period the Your Say page had 349 visitors and 90 contributions (votes).

Little Rincon Park received the highest number of votes, followed by Seaford and Districts Lions Park, Tiny Treasures Park and lastly Little Captains Park.

Further details of the outcomes of this stage of engagement can be found on the engagement outcomes page.

Following the voting stage of engagement, a report detailing the full community engagement outcomes was presented to Council on 14 October 2025 for a final decision on the park name.

At that meeting, Council approved 'Little Rincon Park' as the name for the park, and approved a dual name be applied should the traditional Aboriginal name for the area become known at a later time (i.e. Aboriginal name/Little Rincon Park). The Council meeting report and minutes can be viewed on the City of Onkaparinga website.
