February 2024 update

20 February 2024

Work on the cliff stabilisation will commence in early March and is expected to be completed in late May, subject to weather and other factors outside of our control.

During the works there will be a significant construction site presence with plate and materials along the Esplanade between Gulf Street and Helmsman Terrace.

Whilst all efforts will be made to minimise disruptions to residents, road users and shared path users, traffic management detours around the work zone will be required.

Key traffic implications include:

  • During the initial stage of the project (piling works), the north bound lane of the Esplanade will be closed at all times and vehicles travelling north will need to use the short detour along Compass Drive. The detour map can be viewed here.
  • The south bound lane will remain open as much as possible throughout the project.
  • The shared path will be closed on the western side (around work zone). Pedestrians will be able to use the footpath on the eastern side of the Esplanade, which will remain open at all times.
