Background Information

In 2018 Council, in collaboration with State Government, invested in upgrading Ramsay Place, establishing landscaping, playground, stage and furniture to strengthen the space as a meeting place.

More recently, Council received State Government funding to refurbish the Hopgood Theatre, with the work planned to reinforce the building as a regional cultural facility at the centre of Ramsay Place.

However, the entrance leading to Ramsay Place have been relatively untouched and are generally uninviting gateways to Ramsay Place, Hopgood Theatre, and other destinations in Noarlunga Centre.

The community has consistently told us they would like to see improvements to the safety, wayfinding, and the appearance of Ramsay Place at its entrances.

With the work that has been done in Ramsay Place and the work proposed for Hopgood Theatre, now is the time to turn our attention to the entrances to Ramsay Place.

While the focus of this project is gateways 1 and 2, Council will look at the other entrances in the future years to come.
