Ramsay Place was named after Alexander Maurice Ramsay CBE (1914-1978) who became an influential figure as General Manager for South Australian Housing Trust (Trust) from 1949-1978. During this time, he was renowned for jumping hurtles by supplying Trust-built facilities (such as community halls and theatres) in and surrounding housing trust areas.

Noarlunga Regional Centre was planned as a town centre over Trust land which would provide for the people largely being housed by the Trust in suburban areas such as Christies Beach, O’Sullivan Beach, Christie Downs, and Noarlunga Downs.
