Construction has begun

Great news! Construction of the new dog park and toilet block on the eastern side of Hurtle John Potter Reserve has begun!

Construction of the dog park will include installation of a chainmesh perimeter fence with two pedestrian access points (south and east of the park), dog agility equipment, landscaping, drinking fountain, footpaths, shelter and park furniture.

The construction of the toilet block will begin a few weeks later and will be undertaken by a separate building contractor, alongside the dog park construction.

Work will normally be undertaken between 7am-5pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Please note there will be no access to the eastern portion of the reserve during construction.

Once construction is complete the park will need to remain closed for approximately a further six weeks to allow for grass and vegetation establishment including watering and mowing. Due to the high wear of dog parks it is essential that this period is provided to give the new park the best opportunity of quality establishment. Gates will remain locked to the park until the area is deemed suitable for use by dogs.

At this stage we estimate the park will be open to the public during July 2024.
