City of Onkaparinga Local Heritage Code Amendment complete and now in effect

Following Minister for Planning’s approval and implementation into the state's Planning and Design Code, the City of Onkaparinga Local Heritage Code Amendment was considered by the State’s Environment, Resources and Development Committee on 20 November 2025 and the Committee resolved that it does not object to the Code Amendment. This was the final stage required to bring the Code Amendment into effect.

The Minister for Planning approved the City of Onkaparinga Local Heritage Code Amendment on 3 October 2025, and it was implemented into the state's Planning and Design Code on 23 October 2025.

The Code Amendment brings into effect the following changes to council’s Local Heritage Places list in the state’s Planning and Design Code:

  • Listing of 42 new local heritage places
  • Delisting of 18 existing local heritage places
  • Amendment to existing 24 local heritage places

Details of the Code Amendment can be read in the Approved Code Amendment.

The number of proposed Local Heritage Places were reduced from 43 (as approved by the Council on 17 June 2025) to 42. This is because a place proposed for listing was demolished during the period between the approval by council and submission to the Minister for Planning for final approval. Council staff revised the draft Code Amendment under delegation to reflect this change prior to submitting it to the Minister on 9 July 2025.

All impacted property owners have been notified of the Code Amendment coming into effect.
