Between 3 February and 17 March 2025 council sought community feedback on the draft Code Amendment which included:

  • application of Local Heritage Places Overlay over 45 new local heritage places
  • application of Heritage Adjacency Overlay to properties affected by the new 45 local heritage places
  • removal of Local Heritage Places Overlay from 20 existing local heritage places
  • removal of Heritage Adjacency Overlay from the properties that are affected by 20 local heritage places proposed for delisting, and
  • amendments to 24 existing local heritage places.

All feedback received during the engagement period has now been reviewed. Some submissions were received against the proposed listing, delisting or amendments. This includes submissions from owners of properties that are proposed for listing, submissions against proposed delistings and owners of properties adjacent to a property proposed for listings.

All the submissions were considered and assessed against the local heritage listing criteria under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the technical reports prepared by the heritage architects, and it was determined to progress the proposed amendments except for the following places:

  • Proposed Local Heritage Listing of Olive Trees at 302 Cherry Gardens Road, Cherry Gardens
  • Proposed Local Heritage Listing of River Red Gum tree at 47 Booth Street, Happy Valley
  • Proposed delisting of Market Reserve, Old Noarlunga
  • Proposed delisting of Star of Greece café, Port Willunga
