Throughout 2019, we sought feedback to help shape the Parklet Program.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. Now that the consultation stage has closed, we are in the process of collating the feedback and will share the outcomes when they're available.

WHAT IS A PARKLET?

A parklet is a built platform that can consist of benches, chairs, tables, planter boxes and bike racks and is typically positioned over one or two car parking spaces to transform them from ‘places for cars’ to ‘places for people’.

As part of the council’s City-Wide Place & Business Activation Plan, the Parklet Program has been developed to support business growth and activation in the various mainstreets, coastal nodes and townships within the City of Onkaparinga, ultimately making the City an attractive place to live, work and do business.

Currently, the council has two parklets, with one being hosted by Delicia Acai + Protein Bar on Beach Road, Christies Beach and the other hosted by Shifty Lizard on High Street, Willunga. These parklets will remain in these locations until December 2019 and October 2020 respectively, after which they will be relocated to allow other businesses within the City of Onkaparinga the opportunity to host a parklet.

Previous host businesses have included Becks Bakehouse and The Coffee Factory in Port Noarlunga, and CJs Bakery and The Cottage Bakery in Christies Beach.
