The Aldinga Reef

The Aldinga Reef is not included as part of this survey. It is a Sanctuary Zone and protected area dedicated to conservation and low-impact recreational activities. This zone holds high conservation value, allowing us to preserve its unique marine life while providing a space for the community to enjoy safe, sustainable recreation. Currently, motorised vessels, including jet skis, have restricted access within the Sanctuary Zone, with strict limits on where and how they can operate.

What activities are allowed and not allowed in a Sanctuary Zone?

  • Allowed: Anchoring a vessel and passing through the sanctuary zone.
  • Not Allowed: Motorised water sports, high-speed activities (over 35 knots), fishing, and activities involving circling or weaving through waves.
