Background

In 2017, we set targets to increase our urban tree canopy and green cover and you’ll see much more greenery in the coming years. To help us assess just where to plant, we’ve mapped hot spots, tree numbers and canopy size across our urban area.

Since setting our targets, we've already planted over 56,000 trees in streets, parks and reserves and are continually advocating to the state government around better planning laws and regulations for trees.

We’re delivering a range of community programs around trees including Adopt a Tree, and Tree of the Month.

An exciting new initiative was launched in April will help our communities plant more trees in more places, plus we held our very first tree giveaway event.

We are reviewing our canopy cover targets and sought to understand community views to help shape our policies and planning.
