Construction complete
The traffic calming works including the installation of two raised platforms, additional road signage and line marking is now complete. One of the new light poles will be replaced by SA Power Networks in mid-June so that all poles are a galvanised finish.
We will continue to monitor traffic conditions in the area, and after a period of three to six months to allow traffic patterns to settle, will be collecting new traffic data to evaluate the effectiveness of the traffic calming.
Background
There has been a long history of community requests to install traffic calming on this road to reduce traffic speeds and improve safety.
An original concept plan plan was developed, with two flat-top speed humps proposed. The locations and devices were chosen based on the findings of a 2021 consultant study to manage the site-specific issues and steep gradient of the road.
Following community consultation undertaken in June 2023, the concept plan was updated.
More information about the proposed devices and locations can be found in the fact sheet.
Construction on the traffic calming devices including two raised platforms, additional road signage, line marking and lighting was undertaken in May 2024.
